About Individual Therapy
People seek therapy for a wide variety of reasons, from coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma, to dealing with depression or anxiety, to simply desiring personal growth and greater self-knowledge. Whatever the reason for entering therapy, the end goal is for clients to have healthier relationships with themselves and others, and find more fulfillment in their lives.
Individual therapy is a process in which clients work one-on-one with a trained therapist—in a safe, caring, and confidential environment. Insight-oriented therapy is a specific type of individual therapy designed to help people through understanding their motivations, beliefs, and fears in order to break free from what troubles them. A key component of the treatment is helping the client identify negative repetitive patterns and the origins of these patterns. The other component is helping the client learn more effective ways of thinking and behaving.
